Hello everyone,
It's been kind of quiet on here lately, so I thought I'd write and say hi. Life is going well here in Anchorage. We're still waiting for the first snow fall, right now it's just cold and gray So, hopefully it'll snow soon. I've been keeping busy with insititute and work. I still love my job, even though it's been very challenging lately. I'm still enjoying being on my own. I've been able to enjoy having people over and not worrying about keep people up, anyways it's just been nice.
Well I have a great story to share. On Friday night I stayed up late reading and writing in my journal. Anyways I fell asleep on my couch, and at about 5AM I woke up to someone yelling freeze, put your hands up. Well I looked outside and there were two policemen arresting two men right outside my window. Then two more cop cars pulled up because I guess one man got away, so the police got out there flashlights and started looking around. This whole time I'm inside wondering what was going on. I wasn't scared though since the police were right there. I was actully thinking this is like my own "Cops" show right outside my window. Well back to the story by this time a K-9 car had pulled up and they had the dog out looking. I could here the police talking to eachother, but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. After this though I'm not quite sure what happend because they wentdown the street to where I couldn't see them. So, unfortunately I don't have a awesome ending, such as they caught the guy and wrestled him to the ground. All I know is that I woke up later and the police were gone. It still made a fun night though. And don't worry I still feel completely safe here. Well I hope everyone is doing well, I love you guys. Love Bethanie

Wow Beth, what a story!! It sounds like something that would happen outside your window there in the ghetto. :)
AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!
First I read Mindy's blog and see that Katie has been in an accident, then Beth is out playing cops and robbers and I am, how many thousands of miles away?? No wonder Grandmas go gray. All I can say is keep the faith. All is well this afternoon after torrential rains here in Apia all day. Just a prelude to cyclone season, I guess. We haven't been over to the the "high speed" internet office yet so still anxiously waiting to see all the videos. We are having a fast tomorrow for our mission president. He has to have open heart surgery on Tuesday. He had some problems while he was at some meetings in New Zealand, they did some tests and found an 80% blockage. Looks like a triple bypass is in the offing. At least he was there and not here in Samoa where there is no treatment for heart attacks. Pretty ironic that we are here to meet with Elder Nelson, one of the foremost heart surgeons in the world and President Price is going to be having his own little heartfelt experience on another island. We are sincerely praying for him.
Hope to talk to some of you on Skype tomorrow (monday).
Love you all
Mom
Oh how I miss that building! :-) I remember the good old days when Charles would run after the creeps that would come by and break our car windows. I am glad you can still feel safe there. I remember feeling the same way, somehow despite all the choas and garbage around you - you are still allowed to be protected. Just rememeber Mom's prayers will protect you from the fiery darts of Satan. Take comfort in that. Mom - keep praying!!
Love, Mari
Beth-you had better keep your doors locked!! Don't be trying for one of those heroic endings where you capture the criminal!! Leave that to the police and the dogs!!
I'm so glad that you are safe!
Lots of love to you!!
